my disappointed dancing shoes

...continuation from the 9mile gig...
had to leave my bro & his band at 9mile to still catch jpd.
i still went to ten02, stubborn huh? kakabitin yung gig nila ian e hahah!
even after kamada's gig, alex & myself were still dancing to the reggae/ska beats the bar was playing on cd. so after 4 rhum cokes as well, we flew to ten02 at timog past midnight. jpd was already on stage when we arrived. ofcourse we had to settle in first, then i heard the 5 dreaded words, 'this is our last song'. waaahhhhh...
juan pablo dream

wesley was kind enough to treat us drinks to allay our frustration (& marben wasn't cooperating coz he played jazz albums after jpd's show arghhh!).

oh well, needless to say, i still had an awesome time. after 2 vodka tonics, it was time to say goodnight to my disappointed dancing shoes..

going the 9mile

on a tuesday...at the 9mile bar at kalayaan...kamada!

i had the invite at ten02 again from bing of jpd (juan pablo dream) but ofcourse i had to support my bro's gig so i had to set that aside for the meantime.
it was marion & oni's very 1st production gig. a few amateur metal bands signed up & showed off their unique talents...one of the bands i only recall, who did better than any of the others signed up, was the rap-metal band (& other fusion) named amateur soccer moms. i look forward to watching one of their gigs in the future.
& ofcourse, kamada, who did best, played last.

after the gig:

ginger, marion, ian, ac & oni

alex, ona & jeff

black & white or natural? astig nohhh

ten02 bar, timog
unreserved on a tuesday night, glad i got the daily sms gig invite from reggae/ska band coffee break island. an invite at 9pm at the ten02 bar in timog. the bar is owned by old friends myra (of put3ska) & marben (bad burn; former workmate at tower records makati). as usual, i called alex to join me (who's friends w/ the couple too) & so we went.
the bar was surprisingly full on a weekday. i later learned from marben that it was because manila's only mod/soul stylists band juan pablo dream has gained impeccable popularity at the ten02 bar where they play at every tuesdays. they even got the most audience than the band who invited me over haha! marben did add that coffee break island is just a freshman at their bar so they are yet to capture the hearts of the bars' frequent guests (or drag all of their listeners there).
juan pablo dream's fine music instantly engorged me. i couldn't sit still. i had to stand up & shake my booty hahahaha! heck, not a single soul was steady, everybody was dancing! after that gig, i made a promise to myself to see 'em every tuesdays, ofcourse only when the day's my off or after work.
after juan pablo dream, there was coffee break island.

wall-e

wow! my daughter just had her 1st movie house experience when we watched wall-e last monday!
aug 18 was a national holiday so my nieces & nephew tagged along.
the very 1st challenge us parents experienced for our first timer kids was to get them inside the movie house itself. what are kids most afraid of? the dark ofcourse, ergo, it took us a few secs of convincing RT & rayne that everything was just fine (and that there's a very cool big TV inside hehe).
they got instantly delighted when they saw, well, the big TV. wall-e was already starting when we got in (i told you we are tardy folks ahehe). because we were late, the only remaining seats we could reserve were the first 2 front rows at the sides. it was easy access for bathroom breaks for the kids, plus the seats were just at perfect distance from the big screen. i love trinoma's cinemas talaga!
the picture above was actually taken a day after when her dad took us to lunch beside cinema 7 where we watched wall-e. rayna had her chance to see wall-e & eve again (in cardboard ehehe).
we were so proud the kids loved their first movie...although the babies got a li'l bored in the middle of the viewing that they were already standing up & leaving their seats. my rayna in particular couldn't get settled & roamed from seat to seat but still stayed focused on the movie. naughty, naughty girl!

sway avril's 4th birthday

august 10, 2008
shakey's sm fairview.
sway's fabulous birthday party.
my kumare's genius daughter (can count & sing the alphabet before she turned 1 yo!) turned 4 & just a few weeks earlier, irish (my kumare) just gave birth to another baby girl. fantastic huh?
so i got the gift for sway the day before. a clay making toy, my excellent probing eye found its way again to the most distinct toy shelf at landmark. i love it when i amaze people i give gifts to. what can i say, i want to impart my eccentricity to everybody haha!
conversation between my kumare & myself a day after:
irish: astig ng gift mo kay sway mare!
me: shempre! you're welcome!
back to the party, we came almost an hour past the invite sched (a de guzman sickness, tardy folks haha). but we still got to the games & lunch served w/ shakey's sumptuous pasta/chicken/pizza/ice cream combo.
