...for the timebeing...

i've barely found time to update my blog due to the so many commitments i've got myself into. i don't even know where to start. ok, here goes my backlogs...

10/6

my friend chris finally emailed me pictures when we went to saguio last 10/6th. he has been working in singapore for quite sometime now and visited manila for 2 weeks so we hooked up to catch up. the band hale was already playing when we came. we drank a few beers. he brought his camera and took pictures all night. you can check out his sweeeet photos here:

a supposed 'oktoberfest' gimmick with friends which ended up in xaymaca in timog. the last of the oktoberfest leg was held at the sm megamall. i hooked up with friends sheila, alex and saleng. we had dinner first at behrouz' in timog and eventually decided stay in timog due to the predictable traffic in edsa. we got coffee first at gloria jean's then headed to xaymaca around 1030pm. the first band to play was the milagros dancehall collective. i immediately recognized the vocalist although i couldn't recollect where i've met him. i've confirmed later after their gig that we went to the same school back in elementary and that he was robert martinez, the guy who always topped the class, now a musician. my hunch was right the whole time. *:)
we went home after coffee break island's set.
came november,
i've been taking care of my daughter's bday solo and i am so grateful to my friends for lifting a few tasks off my list. i've made my downpayment at max's during the first week to close our reservation on th 25th, saturday.
11/6
alex and i met at sm north to look for my daughter's gown. she's having a 'royal kingdom' birthday motiff so i've gotta dress her up like a princess. the infant gowns at the department store looked average and alex coaxed me to look for one, more elegant, at other shops in another day.we went to danny's grill at timog after a few baby co. shopping.
11/8
most of our ex-pats visited our office. we held a small gathering at the ofc. there were brief speeches from our american and british VP's. they handed us $50 american express gift cards which we later on realized (after reading the back of the card), that they were for US use only. so much for the thrill, but thanks anyway!

11/11
team building
our department schedules team/group activities quarterly. this was my 2nd participation. the 1st one we had paintball and go kart at roxas which i documented here. this time we went shooting, ice skating and watched a movie at IMAX (my first!).
we went shooting at armscor at the makati cinema square. ryan taught me how to handle a gun just a few weeks earlier but have totally forgotten all about it. i was even late for the briefing and to add to that, i was 1 of the 5 girls picked to proceed to the firing ranges prior to everyone else. no need to guess how nervous i was!
to my relief, someone was assigned to assist me. he walked me through sliding in the magazine, aiming, timing, when to release the safety clip, where to push to release the magazine, reloading, sliding..etc. fortunate for my being very retentive, i've learned pretty easily. i was amazed, most of my colleagues as well, on how i did for my first set of bullet rounds. i bull's-eyed most of my shots! i was so flattered by the applause and cheers from my workmates outside the window so i got more challenged everytime i start shooting. i eventually got tired from the pressure the shooting and the handling of the gun were doing to my muscles. my shots were drastically shifting away from the target. it was hell fun though and i'd love to fire away again sometime soon!

after shooting

next we headed to the mall of asia. all of us ladies persisted on ice skating even though we were already running late for the scheduled IMAX movie at 10pm. was again shocked to be the only one who actually skates! geesh! all them girls were shouting from terror everywhere! and i'm no professional even! i learned to skate since my sis & i were kids and haven't skated since college... i was still afraid to make a stumble so i am not really that good anymore skating on ice.

then came dinner, finally, at the east asia resto at the outskirts of the mall. we were served seafoods, from fish, crabs, shrimps, oysters and one pork liempo.
we finished dinner early and proceeded to the IMAX theater. we rested for a few minutes at the lobby almost dozing of. the only IMAX movie scheduled was "open season" but what the heck, it's 3D and it's on IMAX!!! best of all, it was a free pass!!! hehe
it was time to part after the movies and some of us didn't want to end it early. a few of us met at timog to drink. we ended at sharkey's and drank booze up to 3am.

all's well that ends well!!
