hoopla to me

turned 29 last oct 4th. i seriously feel the panic, for next year i'll turn freakin' 30! i don't honestly feel my age at all. i assume i don't look my age too!

to fire off my bday, a friend of mine took me to saGuijo which held a bralizian night featuring a short string of bands who played jazzy/electronica music. Cafe
saGuijo, as the name holds, is located at guijo street within the san antonio village in makati. there's an art gallery inside which was unfortunately closed when we arrived before 1am (i get out of work past midnight). there's a small boutique as well which sells a few vintage accessories and clothes. the place was very homey, it was a 2-unit apartment-turned-bar. we were able to catch the last 2 bands. i bumped into nelson padilla, a highschool mate, who evidently already looked trashed. i was amazed how easy it was for him to recognize me amidst the dark lighting and w/ the level of alcohol he's had. he proudly mentioned that he's a member of the chilitees band who plays regularly at saGuijo and that he sessions w/ other published rock bands as well. i would love to catch him play sometime.

rye came by in the afternoon for a bday dinner date. i chose to dine at chili's at tomas morato. i believe that was the first time we spent more than a thousand for food and non-alcoholic drinks.

my bday also marks the national, now international, anniversary of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity. i filed my vacation leave that day to specifically attend the event...having no intention to celebrate my bday for the first time. i am trying not to spend too much money these days so i'll have enough budget for my daughter's first bday next month.

at 9pm, alex and i proceeded to the anniversary venue at concepcion marikina. only a few elders were still there when we arrived around 10pm.

the event ended before 4 in the morning and i had to drive everyone to edsa. i went home alone after.

my kid's 10 months! we held her 10th at home (finally!). i invited some of my girlfriends but only alex, saleng and her bf made it. it was my cousin mike's bday too. we feasted on dad's carlo rossi red wine which he aptly chilled for us. i bought my favorite cake from the chocolate kiss in UP! i had my first taste of this cake when my bestfriend sheila brought me a slice at the hospital when i got confined due to my pregnancy complications. the cake's called the devil's food cake. taste it! it's sooo goooooood...

we took pictures but i don't have it yet. i used mike's cam. i'll post 'em when i have 'em.

my daughter's fever worsened after her 10th month celebration. rayne's doctor wasn't responding to our calls so i panicked and brought my baby to the hospital. it was a sunday, no clinics, so i rushed her to the pediatric emergency room. alex came with us (thank you!). the lady doctor took her weight and temperature as soon as checked her in. baby's temp was too high qw had to stay so the med-techs can run a CBC (complete blood count) of baby. happily, her blood count was normal, ruling out dengue fever. they sent us home w/ prescriptions for her fever and diagnosed colds.
come tuesday, my mom sent me a message that rayne's having diarrhea and poo'd all over the bed. i decided to bring her back to the hospital the next day. she had vomitted a few times as well so it was crucial to have her checked by a doctor already. as soon as we narrated her symptom's to the doctor, she immediately advised to admit my kid due to dehydration and prolonged fevers. i wasn't able to go to work for 2 straight nights and rye for 1 day. the most horrifying ordeal we went through was when she needed to be IV'd to replace all the fluids she had lost. it took almost 5 doctors and 15+ needles to get the right vein. my mom couldn't look and i had no choice but to witness it since i had to brace her all throughout. we stayed in the emergency room for hours until a room finally became available for us transfer to. she was discharged 2 1/2 days later. good thing my health card covered 95% of all the charges...or else i would be having the hardest time stretching the budget for her upcoming bday next month.
i didn't bring her home yet after the hospital. she stayed at her lola's for a couple of days so we'd have the chance to rest after those sleepless nights at the hospital. she has fully recovered at this time and the weight she lost is now back.

gimmick night! alex & i, my sister & her bf, my brother & his gf, my brother's 2 pals, mayi & his bf, went first to eastwood for a drink. my brother decided to transfer to timog after midnight for cheaper beer. we went to quattro and stayed 'til 3am. we continued drinking at home plus some videoke w/ the girls. i crept to the other room to rest earlier feeling a bit wuzzy from the cocktail i ordered. rye filed for half day at work to join us. the happy hour ended at 8am for the boys.
